A woman who says she was raped by an on-duty Providence police officer denied a lawyer’s assertion Monday that she had a willing sexual encounter with the man, saying she’s a lesbian and doesn’t have sex with men.

Officials in Rhode Island say that the water from unprecedented flooding has finally begun receding, but that trouble could linger for days.

DHS official: Napolitano to tour flood-damaged RI

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano plans to travel to Rhode Island on Friday to assess damage caused by the worst flooding there in 200 years, a department official told The Associated Press.

RI Flooding Victims Get Tax Filing Deadline Extension

Providence Victims of severe storms and flooding beginning March 12 in Rhode Island may qualify for tax relief from the Internal Revenue Service. The President has declared Kent, Newport, Providence and Washington counties federal disaster areas qualifying for individual assistance.

Testing RI Detours

Hundreds of people were stuck in traffic for hours Wednesday. Has the situation gotten better or worse? We’re going to try an experiment. We are sending our go-to guy, Deputy Assignment Manager Bryan Monaghan, out on the roads to see how long it will take him to get from Orms Street in Providence to Dave’s Market Place in East Greenwich using the route 37 detour to pick us up a couple of things.
